I was in Ottawa Canada this past weekend working a trade show. The Capt' was home with the kiddos and hadn't been feeling well for a few days. Given the time frame we both agreed that a visit to the Dr was in order ASAP. Fast forward to me getting ready to board my flight home with a text on my phone saying 'it's my appendix, heading in for surgery sometime tonight.' Needless to say this was rather disconcerting. So before I powered down my phone for the puddle-jump of a flight back home, our Tribe kicked-in to high gear! Our kids were picked up from school, shuttled to evening events, fed dinner, pj'd and put to bed. They say it takes a village to raise kids - I prefer the term "tribe" and mine is top shelf! I am so grateful for the incredible support. I was able to rush home to grab a few things and then head immediately to the hospital. Thankfully, the Capt's surgery was delayed a bit so I was able to see him before he went in - which was pretty sweet. We're just thankful this happened now and not in a few weeks while out on the ocean. I mean, can you imagine? My friend Becca hung with me as the night crawled and like any other self respecting kid-less moms in an empty hospital, we acted like utter hooligans! We spent hours cartwheeling, making silly movies and trying to figure out how to snag some scrubs. The hubs was under the knife and we were delirious with laughter. He was in good hands and is now on the mend - with the clear to travel in 2 weeks time! 14 sleeps.
